Privacy Policy

Last updated August 17, 2026

This policy covers customaimugs.com. It explains what we collect, what happens to the photo you upload, who else touches your information, and how to get it deleted. Your photo is the most sensitive thing you give us, so it has its own section below and it is worth reading.

1. Who we are

Custom AI Mugs is operated by Plexsoftapps, based in Green Bay, Wisconsin. We make personalized ceramic mugs: you upload a photo, pick a theme and a tone, and we generate artwork from it and print it.

2. What we collect

Information you give us

Information collected automatically

Information we do not collect

3. Your photos

The short version. Your photo is used to make your mug. It is sent to OpenAI, our image generation provider, in order to do that. We do not sell it, we do not publish it, and we do not use it to advertise without asking you first. You can ask us to delete it at any time.

What we do with it

When you upload a selfie, we store it on our server and send a copy to OpenAI's image generation service along with a text description of the scene you picked. OpenAI returns generated artwork, which we then print. We keep your original photo on file so that you can re-generate a design, edit it, or reorder later without uploading again, and so your saved designs display a thumbnail on your dashboard.

What we do not do with it

The photo must be yours to upload

By uploading a photo you confirm that you are the person in it, or that you have the permission of everyone in it, or — if it is a photo of your own child — that you are their parent or legal guardian. Please do not upload photos of other people who have not agreed to it.

How OpenAI handles it

We use OpenAI through their commercial API rather than their consumer products. Under their API terms, content sent by business customers is not used to train their models. OpenAI may retain a copy for a limited period for abuse monitoring before deleting it. Their handling of your photo is governed by their own privacy policy.

4. How we use what we collect

We do not make automated decisions about you that have legal or similarly significant effects.

5. Who we share it with

We use a small number of outside services to run the business. Each one receives only what it needs to do its job.

ServiceWhat it receivesWhat for
OpenAI Your uploaded photo and the generated prompt text Generating your artwork
Stripe Your email, payment details and order amount Taking payment
USPS Recipient name and shipping address Postage and delivery
support@customaimugs.com Your email address and the contents of our emails to you Sending account and order email
Our web host Everything stored on the site, as the hosting provider Running the website and database

We may also disclose information if we are legally required to — a subpoena, a court order, or a law enforcement request we are obliged to honor. If our business is ever sold or transferred, customer information would transfer with it, and we would tell you before that happened.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not currently run any advertising or tracking pixels on this site.

6. Cookies and tracking

We use one strictly necessary cookie: a session cookie that keeps you signed in as you move between pages. It is not used for advertising and it does not follow you to other websites. Blocking it will stop you being able to sign in.

We do not currently use analytics or advertising cookies.

7. How long we keep things

8. Your choices and rights

Whoever you are and wherever you live, you can ask us to:

Email us at wes.lynch@plexsoftapps.com and we will action it. We will not charge you and we will not treat you differently for asking.

Two honest limits. We cannot pull back a mug that has already shipped, and we cannot delete order records we are required to keep for tax purposes — but we can delete the photo and the artwork attached to them.

If you are a California resident, the rights above are the rights the CCPA gives you, and you may use an authorized agent to exercise them. We currently ship within the United States only.

9. Security

The site is served over HTTPS, passwords are stored as one-way hashes, and payment card details never reach our servers. Access to customer photos and orders is limited to the people who need it to make and ship your mug.

No system is perfectly secure, and we will not pretend otherwise. If a breach ever affects your information, we will tell you.

10. Children

This site is not for children. You must be 18 or older to create an account, place an order, or upload a photo. We do not knowingly collect information directly from anyone under 13.

A parent or legal guardian may upload a photo of their own child to have a mug made. If you do this, you are giving us permission on that child's behalf. If you believe a child has created an account or uploaded their own photo without a parent's involvement, contact us and we will delete it.

11. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top. If the change is significant — particularly anything affecting how your photo is handled — we will email registered customers rather than quietly editing the page.
